Ground to a Halt written by Simon Loughton

So... as some of you have maybe seen on my social media, I started writing a book a few years ago with a working title of The Barista Diaries. This book detailed some of my adventures as a working actor moving from Australia to London in early 2012 and the subsequent challenges I faced in life.

As of now, the title is Ground to a Halt - Diaries of a Barista and [Somewhat] Disgruntled Actor.

I thought for a while about self-publishing this book thinking that no one would be interested in commercially publishing it. I still don't know what the attitudes and minds are of actual book publishers but I'm in the process of submitting it to a few publishers to see if there is any interest.

The book itself is centered around a major audition process I went through for a big musical on the West End in London. At the same time I'm telling this story, I go through my life and struggles of moving to London until the day I moved out of London. For young performers, there is a lot to learn from my story and I know that so many other people out there will have their own stories to tell - of their struggles moving away from home, to another country, working in the arts industry... even all of the above.

I know that one way or another, I will get this book out there and get people reading it. Hopefully sooner rather than later!

I think I will share a chapter or 2 from the book on here soon. So keep an eye out.
